THE BOOK OF MY LIFE

I am a 37 years old Panamanian, single and childless. Since I was a child I grew up in a small town called Chitre. My primary education was in the Tomas Herrera school, where I made many great friends and enjoyed a childhood where we played and ran during recess. My high school was at Padre Segundo Familiar Cano School, where my adolescence was even more fun. I was always involved in activities such as theater, cycling and some other sports activities. To this day in 2025 I have been fortunate to be in very good health.

(Elementary School)

The train of time runs very fast and never stops, in the blink of an eye I was already studying at the university. I entered the Technological University of Panama at the Azuero campus where I obtained a degree in Bilingual Executive Communication. But as I have always been a faithful believer that man must look for better opportunities and quality of life, then I went to the capital city where I entered the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Technological University of Panama.

Those were very difficult times since I worked during the day and attended the university at night. I managed to finish my bachelor’s degree in bilingual executive communication and finally culminate this great stage of my life. My education have helped me to see life situations with a different perspective. I have broken the life scheme of the typical Panamanian because after finishing my studies, I had the opportunity to travel and this really changed my life. Throughout my education from elementary school to college I learned many important things that I thought I was going to be using on a daily basis at work but I guess that time has not come yet. Without a doubt I have learned and continue to learn every day with every experience in life whatever the situation there is always something to learn. One thing I have learned through education and travel has been languages. Currently Spanish is my primary language, English my secondary language, I also speak Swedish, some Greek and German thanks to my travels.

Traveling more than a luxury for me was a way of learning because throughout my travels I was able to work in different countries to pay for my travels and my studies, since I also studied languages in the countries I visited. Breaking social schemes is not easy, because many times society thinks that you will always remain the same, but I particularly have a very different concept of what we were, are and will be. Many people think they know what is best for you but the truth is that they don’t even know what is best for them. Societies stereotype you and push you to be something you don’t really want to be.

Social pressure plays a very important role in the social development of the citizen because many times or most of the time people assume things and believe that they are reality and live fantasies that are not quite true and if the individual is influenced in one way or another by the wrong social influences they end up living the wrong life. That is why for my tranquility and peace of mind I have always focused on my own personal development, since within society unfortunately we do not all have the same opportunities or influences for the development of our lives as independent citizens. Seeing life from a different perspective is of utmost importance because for me resources and opportunities have always been limited and controlled. So getting ahead without having the same opportunities is not something that any individual can achieve. No matter how many diplomas I manage to accumulate until the end of my life that could be an option but in the end what I will become depends on what I have learned from my studies. becoming a delinquent, alcoholic or thief would be the stereotypes that many times society has tried to impose on me but it has only been up to me to reject these stereotypes, since I flatly refuse to live something that I do not want to be.

Knowing that there are alternatives to the reality that exists today in Panama is something that I have already experienced. The simple fact of knowing and having lived a different life carries a great responsibility, since here in Panama life does not give you the same opportunities as in developed countries. Every day we see more and more repression, injustice, less education and fewer opportunities. Going out to look for opportunities is a real odyssey, not to mention that rights and justice are only for a certain part of society. Music, art, sports and education are increasingly beyond the reach of normal people. People are more and more used to the stereotypes imposed on them and have become accustomed to live that way. One thing is very true and that is that the future, present and past are determined by our actions and it is only up to us to write our own life.
