Having returned from Europe for reasons beyond my control, I decided to change my lifestyle since education in my country only offers me the minimum to survive. I already had a degree and spoke several languages and experience in different areas. I was already over 30 years old, without children, without a house, without a car or even a good job that would keep me tied in the cities where I lived and where I have also returned for reasons beyond my control. I made the decision to go live in the mountains near the beach where I had the option to live in harmony with nature. Cambutal, a small town in the middle of the mountains of Tonosí, Province of Los Santos, a place with paradisiacal beaches and perfect for surfing and getting in touch with nature. THE MONKEY SHACK.
I had some relatives who lived in that place and whom I visited every time I had the opportunity, so it was a good place to start a new life closer to nature, enjoying the extraordinary waves for surfing and, most importantly, being more in touch with nature. My mother’s father, who was a native of this town and who lived as a fisherman and wood sawyer all his life, was the one who sparked my connection with nature and who inspired me to change my lifestyle. Having found a place near a small stream where I used to go fishing and crabbing with my grandfather was where I relived magical moments and was transported back in time. It was a remote place away from everything, where there were no neighbors and surrounded by nature. I began to build a small wooden cabin, which became my home for a period of approximately 5 years.
During this time I dedicated myself to surfing and living from nature. My only companions were a little puppy(Brownie) who became my best friend and a cat who kept my cabin clean of any vermin. There were also groups of howler monkeys that walked among the trees and fed on saplings that were sprouting on the banks of the stream. For 5 years I completely changed my lifestyle and put into practice skills that helped me survive in the jungle.

During this time I meditated a lot and was able to learn to focus and look inside myself, find my flaws and accept them and then improve. Give myself time to listen to my inner self and know that without nature we are nothing.
Having been able to establish this close connection with nature, I began to become aware of the serious damage we are causing to our planet and I began to reforest and plant trees on the banks of the rivers, since I was able to observe that more and more monkeys, iguanas and other animals that lived in trees had less space to move. During this time I also got help from several volunteers from different countries who were of great help in preserving and studying the different species that live in that place. Due to the great environmental impact suffered by the ecosystems of this region, we began with campaigns for the protection and preservation of endangered species with the help of several volunteers who helped raise awareness and try to protect the species that were affected. The traffic of turtle eggs is one of the activities that has the most impact on the extinction of this marine species that lives in these areas. I currently live Costa Rica where my dog still my best friend.
